Our Board members are drawn from a wide range of industry backgrounds — including education leadership, online learning, safeguarding, policy development, quality assurance, AI ethics, and education tech innovation. This broad perspective helps ensure that GOER approaches online education accreditation with an open-minded, forward-thinking and balanced lens.

The Board provides strategic oversight for GOER’s work, advises on the continual evolution of our standards and frameworks, and helps uphold the organisation’s mission of promoting quality, trust and transparency across the online education sector.

Background

I am a Deputy Head of School with 12 years of experience in education, including 6 years as part of a Senior Leadership Team and 8 years working in British International Schools. As a forward-thinking practitioner, I am deeply committed to aligning a school’s mission and vision with the culture it aspires to create—believing that real school improvement begins with clarity of purpose and a shared sense of values.

I believe that staff and students alike must embrace the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence in education. When used thoughtfully, AI can support personalised learning, enhance teaching efficiency, and prepare students for the demands of a rapidly evolving world.

Inspired by the principles in Legacy by James Kerr, I am guided by the belief that:

Background:

Kevin Bartlett has led schools across the UK, Tanzania, Namibia, Austria, and Belgium, where he most recently served as Director of the International School of Brussels. Throughout his distinguished career, he has helped transform international education in meaningful ways — designing accreditation systems for major international councils, guiding governance as a founding member and chairman, and championing strong leadership development through his writing and training. Kevin has also pioneered global education initiatives, including co-founding The Next Frontier: Inclusion and establishing The Common Ground Collaborative. His expertise has shaped national education policies, from keynote addresses in Chile to advisory work in India and Zambia. Widely published and in demand as a keynote speaker and workshop leader, Kevin has received numerous accolades recognizing his impact on international education, including induction into the AAIE Hall of Fame. Above all, Kevin remains devoted to the classroom, firmly believing that working directly with learners of all ages keeps him grounded and connected to what matters most.

Background

Claire Evans is Head of Geography at Bloxham School and co-creator of the Bloxham Sustainability Challenge (BSC), an award-winning initiative developed in partnership with Dalcour Maclaren and supported by Esri UK. The BSC empowers students through real-world, geospatially informed sustainability projects aligned with climate action policy and
future workforce needs.Claire is also a Freelance Education Consultant for Hodder Education and ZigZag Education, where she authors curriculum resources and delivers professional development
webinars for geography educators. Her academic background includes lecturing at theUniversity of Bristol’s School of Geographical Sciences, and she has extensive experience as an examiner for major UK and international geography exam boards at both GCSE and A-Level. In 2024, Claire’s department received the Secondary Geography Quality Mark and anExcellence Award for Networking from the Geographical Association. The Bloxham Sustainability Challenge was also named UK winner of the ‘Prepared for Life’ category at the Muddy Stilettos Best Schools Awards, recognising its innovative contribution to future-
focused education. As Strategic Lead for Sustainability and Future Learning at GOER, Claire brings a deep commitment to equipping young people with the skills, mindset and global awareness
needed for the green transition. Her work bridges education and industry, aligning with GOER’s mission to ensure quality, relevance and innovation in online education worldwide.

Background:

Alexis Toddy is a systems thinker, pedagogue, and education futurist reimagining the global
learning landscape through Afrocentric, inclusive and justice-driven design. As Co-Founder
and COO of Toddy AlphaMore, I lead the creation of culturally grounded learning
ecosystems that prioritize epistemic diversity, contextual relevance, and ethical EdTech
innovation.
In addition to my grassroots experiences as an LSEN Support Specialist, English Language
instructor, K-12 & university academic tutor, I stand at the epicentre of a broader ecosystem
consisting of varied education stakeholders as a Founding Leader at Ubuntu Education
(Teacher) Hub, Curriculum Design Head of Bridge Tutoring SA, and founding member of
Echoes of EdTech Africa publication. Equipped by this experience and communalism, I
champion inclusive pedagogy, ethical AI governance, and educator empowerment – with
my work bridging radical thought and scalable infrastructure.

As a GOER board member, Alexis brings deep insight into decolonial frameworks, values-
based standards, cultural responsiveness and framework co-creation. Their contribution

ensures that integrity, equity, local epistemology, and cognitive justice are not add-ons—
but core pillars of global education regulation.

Erica is the Co-founder and Business Director of Quantum Rise Talent Group and has over 20 years of learning and development experience with some of the UKs best known brands such as LV=, British Gas, Specsavers and Virgin.

She is an engaging and passionate speaker who is often invited to keynote at learning and education conferences and events. Erica’s area of specialism is the future of work and skills, digital learning and challenge the quality of our education systems. Erica addresses this in her 2022 TEDx talk and more recently through LinkedIn Learning courses as an instructor.​

Erica is passionate about providing opportunities in business, specifically driving innovation and thought leadership. Recent examples is the work around AI and hosting ‘AI for the Average Joe’ podcast, making the complex, simple. Erica is also an advisory member of the AI in Work and Skills Forum.​

Jonathan Boone

Innovation and Technology Specialist in Education

Background:

Jonathan first entered the Ed-Tech space in 2016 as a GCSE student working on Temple GCSE; a gamified quizzing app for GCSE students that reached over 100,000 users and ranked #9 in Education on the iOS App Store. He later studied at the University of Chicago, pursuing a double major in Economics and Public Policy, and a minor in Astrophysics, graduating with honours for his Public Policy Thesis "Education Technology in Chicago: Highlighting the Values of Access and Implementation as Crucial to Technological Efficacy Within Chicago High School Education." He is passionate about giving students autonomy over their studies and believes that technological media are the future of education. He is currently a co-founder at Flyp Academy.

Mischa is a former top-25 ATP tennis player who transitioned into the tech and innovation space after retiring from professional sport. With a deep interest in athlete development and digital transformation, he advises startups across sports tech, wellness, and education, including his role as strategic advisor and shareholder at Movmenta, a platform focused on youth movement and physical literacy.

In 2025, Mischa joined the board of the Global Online Education Regulator (GOER). He brings a unique perspective shaped by high-performance sport, international experience, and hands-on work with emerging technologies. At GOER, he contributes to advancing global standards in online and blended learning, with a focus on innovation, learner protection, and ethical use of AI

Background:

Mark is a Quondam Fellow at Hughes Hall, Cambridge, and Chair of Macat. He serves as an adviser in Amsterdam to Squla, in Paris to Lynx Educate, in London to ZNotes and College Online, in Spain to Materact, and internationally to Janison and LearningMate.

From 2014 to 2016, Mark led Pearson's UK business, overseeing the Edexcel and BTEC qualification brands, university partnerships, and Pearson College. Prior to that, he was responsible for Pearson’s international Schools and Higher Education business units, as well as global strategy and business development. He was the founding Managing Director of the Pearson Test of English from 2007 to 2010.

He served as Chair of London Metropolitan University from 2016 to 2022 and Chair of BibliU from 2017 to 2019. Mark has also advised a number of education ventures including Knowdl, School Guide, and EDIA.

He is the author of The Leadership Book (2nd edition, FT Publishing 2013) and a Cambridge Fellow in Science & Policy.
